Quarantine Opera Scenes

U.N. Secretary General António Guterres has called the COVID-19 pandemic the United Nation’s “gravest test since the founding“. For arts organizations across the world, it has been a challenge like no other – a perfect storm of global economic crisis, health conditions that prevent the fundamental gatherings of live performance, and a simultaneous disruption to logistics and livelihoods of every sort.

Art is sometimes an expression of happiness. Art is sometimes an expression of need. Art is sometimes an expression of the urge to create. Our urge to create goes on. Here is some operatic art created in quarantine:

Written by Sean Pflueger (music) and Daniel Solon (libretto). Interpreters: Jodi Goble (piano) with Maggie Burr (soprano), Jennifer Zabelsky (soprano), Michael Burton (tenor) and Basil Considine (bass)
