Really Spicy Opera is pleased to present a special educational outreach performance of the classic Menotti opera Amahl and the Night Visitors. This Christmas opera was premiered on NBC television on Christmas Eve, 1951, and has been broadcast annually ever since. Amahl tells the story of the Three Kings visiting a shepherd boy and his mother while searching for the baby Jesus.
Amahl has long been a holiday favorite in the United States, and has introduced millions of people young and old to opera. Really Spicy Opera presents the beautiful score and uplifting, family-friendly story with an all-female cast and a puppet chorus of shepherds.

Synopsis
One night in Judea, a disabled shepherd boy (Amahl) and his mother are confronted by crushing poverty. Suddenly, there is a knock on the door – the Three Kings, following the Star of Bethlehem in search of the Christ Child, ask to take shelter with the family for the night. The brief encounter changes all of their lives forever.
